the world is strangely quietly coming undone we rejoice
the climb is quiet dark and calm we rejoice
the pace is steady, sure we rejoice
we can't stop now, though we know where it will end we rejoice
our words fall constantly on deaf ears we rejoice
pictures hang vainly before our eyes we rejoice
the beat, the pace, the road narrows we rejoice

we hear, we do not understand. we see, not knowing the language. we
speak in strange tongues, walk toward an unknowable light. we are driven
beyond, driven out of ourselves. the pains of labor increase, the time, the strain,
the hurls join closer, squeezing out interludes if peace.

it is coming we rejoice
